At Rudheath Primary Academy, we acknowledge Maths as a fundamental life skill required by all. From simple transactions to complex calculations, a knowledge and understanding of Maths is essential for all children as they grow and form part of our society. At Rudheath, we aim for children to become fluent with the fundamentals of Maths concepts that are practiced and understood. We want children to reason around Maths through discussion, debate and enquiry, and we want them to be able to solve increasingly complex problems by using their knowledge and understanding of Maths built up over time. As teachers, we aim to guide this learning by breaking concepts into small steps and deliver that knowledge clearly and precisely.
We have chosen to use the White Rose Maths resources as a scheme to ensure our children are systematically taught key essential maths skills and knowledge in a clear systematic way. This develops a strong sense of number awareness which in turn ensures our children have a solid foundations foundation for more complicated learning later on in life
